Combine Structured and Innovative Part mode.
An effective 3D workflow combines freedom during modeling with control when precision is needed. IronCAD makes this possible by using Structured and Innovative Part modes together. These two design approaches provide a powerful foundation for both concept development and technical modeling.
Free modeling with Innovative Part mode
In Innovative Part mode, you work directly in 3D without fixed dependencies. This is ideal for quickly setting up shapes and testing design variants. The TriBall plays a central role in this and makes it easy to move, rotate, align and copy parts.
This approach feels intuitive and speeds up the creative process considerably.
Parametric control with Structured Part mode
When precision becomes important, Structured Part mode provides the right structure. Here you build a model with parameters and relationships, allowing parts to automatically respond to changes. The model remains technically consistent and easy to modify.
Examples include setting fixed distances, relationships or shape parameters that always move with the design.
The advantages of both modes together
Combining Structured Part mode and Innovative Part mode creates a workflow in which:
- models can be built quickly
- design variants are easy to test
- parametric changes are made immediately
- creativity and technical accuracy reinforce each other
This approach makes IronCAD particularly suitable for a variety of design and engineering projects.
Working with parameters such as Radius Factor
The associated workflow uses a parameter called Radius Factor. With this, you control the shape of a part with a single value. This makes it easy to create variants or fine-tune geometry without making manual adjustments.
Show in Quick Edit from IronCAD 2026
The new Show in Quick Edit feature allows you to make parameters instantly visible and quickly editable. You control which values are displayed, which speeds up modeling changes considerably. This is especially useful for parts with multiple variables.
Flexible and powerful design
The combination of Structured and Innovative Part modes provides a flexible and powerful design workflow. Models respond quickly to changes and remain easy to manage, making this approach suitable for a variety of projects.
