The Salamander

IronCAD design of a fireplace created by De Salamander.

We are De Salamander Fireplaces & Metalwork., located in Best. Over 40 years ago, our owner Rinus started by hand, making custom fireplaces in the back of a shed somewhere in Best. We are originally a manufacturer of custom-built fireplaces fired by gas and wood. We also have enclosed gas fireplaces and standard inserts with certain standard sizes.

Own production

We have a large dealer network in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, England and other countries in the EU. After the great consumer demand, the company has grown through these years to one of the largest in custom made fireplaces within the Netherlands. Over the years a lot has been made by hand, now that we have our own laser we can cut out, edge, set, weld, finish and even spray all drawn projects ourselves in our own spray booth.

Search for another CAD package

Previously we only had a 2D program and had to look for an accessible 3D program. After some research and informing ourselves, we ended up with IronCAD. After just a few days of trial it was clear that we wanted to go for this package. Accessible, user-friendly, good service and above all affordable.

Added value of IronCAD

Since we work with IronCAD we can also offer other products. Basically everything that can be made of steel, stainless steel or aluminum. You can think of cabinets for interiors made of steel, a flower box made of Corten steel, chimney caps, staircases made of steel, to automatic waste bins for municipalities and many more products. We get the most diverse requests and can therefore produce almost anything, occasionally we unfortunately have to sell no to the customer.

Basically, every product ordered is worked out in IronCAD. We put the created products in a library. Which makes it increasingly easy to modify existing similar products quickly and easily.

Extensions, tools & tricks

We have been using IronCAD for three years now and do so with two people. By now we have mastered all the tools and tricks that are important to us. We use the Sheet Metal section the most. That’s why we also chose the Mechanical extension . IronCAD specialist Bas recommended it to us after he saw what kind of work we all do. So also the service desk people think with you, we like that.

“This extension is very valuable to us and saves an enormous amount of time in work preparation.”

Sheet metal features

From a composite drawing of several sheet metal parts, the Mechanical function can unfolder all files and create a desired file at the touch of a button. Huge time saver. Also included is a standard function to connect sheets with a mortise and tenon joint which saves us a lot of time. And those are just two of the many additional features that we have yet to use.

service

Is the system not cooperating or you can’t figure something out? No problem, you will be helped almost immediately by the friendly staff.
