De Jongh Metal

De Jongh Metaal is a small all-round steel construction company located in South Holland. They do everything from design to execution and installation of large or small steel structures. Lucas told us more about his company and experiences with IronCAD.

From drawing board to 3D drawing software

Lucas started at the business while he was in college. The then owner did not have a family member who wanted to take over his business. After 5 years of work, Lucas took over the business from him and continued operations under a new name. That was in early 2022. The working methods were somewhat outdated. For example, drawings were still made on a drawing board. Lucas: “That works fine, but nowadays a digital drawing is often requested. It is also useful when a third party is called in for cutting out or making parts.”

Future

The choice of IronCAD came from advice from Lucas’ environment. Lucas: “At home at the company they also use the program. So I was taught and advised to use it for drawing. In the future we are also going to weld pipes, where IronCAD will also be used.”

Convenient functions

Many times at De Jong Metal they make specific custom work that has to fit exactly. “Sometimes it’s three times to see if it’s feasible,” Lucas. The Mirror function, where parts are easily mirrored, is a handy feature for them. Parts are drawn in accurately and correctly this way. The Pattern function also proves to be useful. Parts of a design are drawn with equal spacing in a desired pattern.
